The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks is a cabinet-level agency with a Secretary appointed by the Governor. KDWP is dedicated to the conservation and enhancement of Kansas’s natural resources and includes different departments, like, Licensing, Fisheries, Wildlife, Ecological Services, Education, Public Lands, Law Enforcement, and State Parks. KDWP's operations, programs, and staff are funded primarily through user fees and federal grants, not state tax dollars. Based on their collaborative efforts between their different internal departments and the surrounding law enforcement agencies around the state, trainings conducted by the United States Deputy Sheriff's Association is vital to practicing real-world emergency scenarios where communication and collaboration are key.
