Your tax-deductible donation to the United States Deputy Sheriff's Association has been submitted.
Thank you for your support, which helps us continue to provide FREE survival training to the men and women of law enforcement.
Making a legacy gift or bequest to the United States Deputy Sheriff’s Association is a great way to show your continued support for the men and women in law enforcement across America. Legacy giving (or planned giving) is a way to support the work of the USDSA through your estate.
A lifetime gift to USDSA is a great way to help us keep providing the many programs we have for law enforcement officers and their families. Your gift means more FREE lifesaving equipment to underfunded agencies, more FREE training to keep America’s officers safe, continued support of law enforcement families through our End of Watch and scholarship programs, and the means to fulfill our mission to encourage the general public to support, honor, and recognize law enforcement for their sacrifices.
We always encourage everyone to consult with their families and legal or financial advisors before making any of these kinds of gifts and to determine which way of leaving a legacy gift is best for you.
Will or Trust
A bequest can easily be included in your will or trust specifying a gift to USDSA. There are several options for the way the bequest can be done.
Retirement Accounts
A gift or donation can be made through your retirement accounts such as IRA, 401(k) or other retirement accounts, by naming USDSA as a beneficiary.
Life Insurance Policies
Life insurance policies that are no longer needed to assist family members can be an easy way to leave support by naming USDSA as the designated beneficiary.
Banking and Investment Accounts
Bank and investment accounts are also an easy way to leave USDSA a legacy gift. By naming USDSA as a beneficiary as a TOD (Transfer on Death) or a POD (Payable on Death). Please check with your banking institute to make sure such accounts are permitted.
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD)
At a certain age, you are required to make a required minimum distribution (RQDs) from your tax-deferred retirement accounts, according to the IRS. This QCD is a direct donation from your IRA paid directly to a qualified non-profit organization. As a direct payment, the donation is not considered part of your income and is not taxable.

The United States Deputy Sheriff's Association is dedicated to survival training presented FREE of charge to officers across the United States. The classes are straight-forward and reality-based with the focus on officer survival and provide proven techniques which really do work on the street. Every course from USDSA discusses ethics, professionalism, proper use of force, and duty to intervene.
The USDSA programs, which have been referred to by attendees as “life changing,” are the cutting edge in real world law enforcement training. Our training focuses on the tactics and concepts which are easily learned and maintained and which give officers the flexibility to deal with the countless challenging situations encountered daily. USDSA’s training courses are straight-forward and reality-based with the focus on officer survival and provide proven techniques which really do work on the street. So much of law enforcement training is watered-down and politically correct information that will get officers hurt – or WORSE.
USDSA Training is about the student – designed to improve, not impress. Fancy and complex techniques only work with a compliant partner in a sterile environment; they don’t work in the real world. Taught by world-class trainers with real world experience, our courses will change the way you train and deal with dangerous situations.
USDSA’s nationally acclaimed training staff has trained city, county, state, and federal law enforcement officers across the country, as well as U.S. military personnel, corrections officers, private prison staff, campus police, and constables. We have been guest instructors at numerous law enforcement academies, martial arts studios, and association conferences. We have been featured in a highly successful training DVD and spotlighted on television news programs and print media around the U.S. Countless officers, departments, and facilities have adopted these programs.
All USDSA training courses discuss the importance of ethics and professionalism in law enforcement, duty to intervene, and proper use of force.
Our “no ego” training approach is about the officer and them going home at the end of their watch. Many programs are meant to impress with choreographed demonstrations and drills. We deal with the fact that things happen fast in the real world, and officers will revert to instincts and their training.

We inform the general public about the problems that Law Enforcement face and about the support that officers need from their communities. Through our communications activities, we encourage individuals, as well as community and municipal groups, to assist local law enforcement departments in crime prevention activities, collaboration between community groups, and engaging in citizen volunteer opportunities.
USDSA collects and sends out well over 500,000 thank you cards a year that we receive from patriotic citizens to law enforcement agencies across the United States of America. The cards tell officers that the majority of citizens are still behind them and that they still have the support and appreciation of the community. These cards fulfill USDSA's mission to encourage the general public to support and honor our law enforcement and give our citizens the opportunity of recognizing our law enforcement officers and the sacrifices they, and their families, make for our communities.
To further assist law enforcement, United States Deputy Sheriff's Association donates life-saving equipment with these cards to protect America's Law Enforcement and their communities.
Any citizen who wishes to make a tribute to a fallen law enforcement officer or to reach out with positive thoughts or well wishes to the loved ones of a fallen officer can do so by posting on our Facebook page.
The ability of our local law enforcement agencies to achieve their objectives is dependent on its continued ability to sustain and instill knowledge and skills within the officers and civilian staff they employ.
The very nature of police work itself is characterized by complex challenges. Training is the key to providing those necessities however funding can at times be difficult to secure for such initiatives.
The training provided by Mike and Dave was relevant, informative, interesting, and desperately needed by the officers in attendance. It is my belief that this class will enhance officer safety and their ability to function as law enforcement professionals.
